daybook

wednesday {may 4th}
daybook

outside my window...we finally got some rain, so the temps are much cooler. it is downright pleasant outside right now. after the kid's quiet and story time today we will be venturing out to enjoy it.

i am thinking....that i have a kitchen i need to quickly clean up...we made quite a mess baking chewy chocolate chip oatmeal cookies for rocky this afternoon. you see, rocky is really an adorable cookie monster in disguise. i try to oblige. ;-)

i am thankful ...the tornado did not destroy our home (it came about 100 feet from it) and that it even left the newly planted orchard and vineyard in tact (all but a couple apple trees) on our property back home in tn.
(pictures coming in another post sometime soon)

i am learning....photoshop elements 9 {slowly} and enjoying it. looking forward to trying out lightroom next!

i am creating....a kindergarten home school curriculum for leafy {still} it's a slow process.

i am going to....do some crafty research..time to stock up on materials for the kids for them to do lots of crafts. anyone have any tried and true kid craft ideas they wouldn't mind recommending to me? both leafy and lily love crafty crafts. ;-)

i am hearing.... about so much going on in the world today: mind boggling weather, world events, etc.. it really makes me think that Jesus will be coming soon. i truly believe this and want to be ready to live with Him forever!

around the house...i hear momentary silence. ahhh....

i am reading....'adobe photoshop elements 8: classroom in a book' (a book i checked out from the library).

i am praying....for all those who have lost loved ones and their homes in the recent tornadoes which ripped through the south.

a few plans for the week....well, the week is going by so quick. i strive to continue to get my cleaning done early this week (right on schedule even if rocky doesn't believe it- ha!), come up with a list of materials needed for the home school curriculum, continue on with leafy's reading book, 'teach your child to read in 100 easy lessons', and go grocery shopping..we really need to stock up on some fresh produce. anyone else freak out if produce stash dwindles to nada? i am guilty of that.

a picture... another photo taken at lulu's {we apparently like taking photographs there}. rocky took this during my "lesson mode" and i think it is lovely and had to share. this is unedited, btw.

i am open to editing suggestions..in fact, i would be most thankful. that is how i learn. any takers-of-photos out there willing to talk photoshop with me on this picture? your suggestions would be appreciated. :-D

lunch at lulu's...

last weekend continued...

so, naturally...since we had company we just had to go to lulu's restaurant.  (owned by lucy buffet, who is jimmy buffett's sister, in case you were curious) "lulu" was a childhood nickname. i love this place!! great fun for the kids...oh, and the food is great, too!

i did not take any pictures of the food (food photography just isn't my thing..well, not usually), but i can tell you the food was yummy and i look forward to coming back here when my sister is in town in a couple weeks. they even offered vegetarian options for us veggies, but i'm sure asking them to leave the meat out of an entree would work as well. rocky and i enjoyed the veggie burrito. delish!

so..here is another reason i don't take food photos too often anymore...i am too busy taking pictures of the people i am eating the food with. ;-) people are so much more interesting than food..;-)

so sexy, yet so silly all at the same time. ;-)

love this picture of my love...like it in b & w.

here is a picture of me trying on a pair of sunglasses in the gift shop. what do you think? too big, too white for my very fair skinned, freckly face? i kind of like them, but am not sure if they "work" on my face. ;-) do they look clown like?

note: this is a rare post in that there are actually pictures of me..that almost never happens..

i will probably go with a simple black pair of bole's i have spotted on sierra trading post. but, we'll just have to see.

so...after we ate we played in the sand..yes, even the adults.

so cute!

can you hula?

then it was time for our sweet friends to board their plane to head back home...

naturally..a family photo was in order and in front of their plane seemed like a great place. our friend;s shadow is in the photo as he snapped the photo for us.;-)

bye bye for now!

isn't their airplane adorable?

makes me look forward to rocky getting his pilot's license.

so...it was a fun filled weekend with sweet friends...i am so thankful they got to stay with us and also thankful that they own their own plane so that the trip here for them was just two hours instead of 7. That meant more time at the beach.;-)

oh...and i added a page to the blog entitled, 'our story',,,it's pretty much our story via a few words and lots of pictures..go check it out. ;-) i will be working on this section as i get time..i will have to scan in pictures when i get back to tn to add to it (for those "before digital" photos. ;-)

till next time...
many blessings..
