giggles in the park

catching handsome wildflowers...that was the goal yesterday at the park.

catching little man in a full on smile on camera can be a bit more tricky than the little lady...he's just so quick and wiggly..well, that and he seems to put on silly faces just as soon as he sees nelly nikon emerge from her bag (yes, i named my camera).

but, today i had a plan...you see, little man hurt his foot while playing on the playground...

now...this happens. he is all boy. rough and tough. true boy, through and through.

well, for some reason every time i said the word, 'foot' he would giggle. you see. he thought it was a bit silly that i would choose to take a picture of his foot.. (moms take pictures of the good and bad, bumps and bruises,too..it's all life).

so, i went with his foot giggles. this was perfect as i got him to giggle much...so, fun pictures were had.

fun on the playground...

treasured moments, treasured boy.

i have learned a trick for "catching" my handsome wildflower and i am so excited! being silly with him works, and that works for me..i like silly.

i love you, little man and your precious smile and cute feet. ;-)

daybook

march 28, 2011 monday
{daybook}

outside my window....warm spring air is touching the trees, flowers, and the grass.

i am thinking....that i am so grateful for God's love and a new day full of new beginnings and endless posibilities.

i am thankful for....God's forgiveness. seriously, i am in awe. we are all sinners and yet He forgives and He loves us. LOVE.

i am learning....that blackstrap molasses is my friend..i will happily drink a tablespoon a day for anemia for the rest of my life (regardless of whether or not i like the taste of it)

i am creating....a more structured exercise routine for myself (as blackstrap molasses is now friend and is helping me with the icky anemia which has plagued me for quite some time).

i am going to....really put a dent into backing up all the home movies from the camera to vimeo today.

i am hearing.... the kids getting ready for the day.

around the house...i see work that needs to be done and proof that i like living simply.

i am wanting to read....Sacred Marriage by Gary Thomas. really wanting to read this as i have heard wonderful things about it!  also..wanting to read...The Mission of Motherhood by Sally Clarkson.
i have been trying to find both of these at the library with no luck. sad, because free is financially the only option right now.

i am praying....that God will make me an even better wife and mother. (thus the books). i believe everyone can improve and i am completely open to God improving me!

a few plans for the week....exercise more, bike rides with the kids, pool time with the kids, clean, research more homeschool curriculum, make a special treat for my sweet hubby, daydream about the Canon EOS 5D Mark II (yes, this is what we are talking about upgrading to eventually..must save the pennies.) oh and ssshhh..don't tell nelly nikon yet..i am arranging an excellent home for her if we do upgrade. ;-) it will be awhile still yet before upgrade happens. ;-)

a picture (make that two pictures)....
it is finally warm enough to use the pool. yay! well, the water is still a bit on the chilly side..but, that doesn't stop the kiddos from having a blast. we (the parents) will jump in soon..give it another week. are we wimps? ;-) no..we just prefer our water a smidge warmer..

emerging from the water..

the burr-that-water-is-chilly face. ;-)

have a blessed, happy day!

a song for our awesome offspring..

with love...

i love you.

what do you know...i caught one!

i caught a wildflower...and a wiggly one, at that!! ;-)

catching wildflowers, especially cute little wiggly ones, like my sweet offspring, can be challenging at times...but i caught one!

i was hoping the "catch" would be leafy, as i owe him a post. (coming up soon, i promise). ;-) little man is super fast and rarely slows down for a "kodak moment", especially when he is chasing and being chased on the playground with friends..love that boy and all that energy. i guess you could also say i didn't quite have the energy to try to catch such a wiggly wildflower at that moment...

anywho..yesterday we decided we would go to the kid's park before the library and this worked out great...we normally go to library story time first, then park second..i like the new order of events..

i, unfortunately did not have the lovely nikon with me on this day (i feel as if we are joined at the hip most times..okay, cameras do not have hips but you know what i mean). you can usually find me hiding behind the nikon...it's safe there. it's where i like to be.

oh...a random thought is coming. if you know me..you know i love to name things. not just people, but things, too.  in this case i think since i talk about miss nikon so fondly she deserves a name...i will call her, nelly. nelly nikon. ;-)

so...being that the miss nelly nikon was doing what she rarely does (sleeping at home) i snapped a few shots of little lady on the swing with the camera phone..i am determined to take a decent swing shot...it will happen one day with all the practice i get at it, i am certain!

well...one turned out fairly decent...so, it is the picture of the day. ;-)

gotta love all the bruises on little lady's legs (poor sweet girl)...she is as rough and tough as her big brother. nothing holds her back from climbing (and sadly, sometimes falling) like her big brother. ;-)

she is an interesting mix of girlie princess and "indestructible" tomboy. ;-)

so here's the little picture..of the little lady...

i love her happiness captured in this photo!

photos of loveliness

i've taken some photos lately (well, lots actually) of the offspring..i dedicate these select few photos to the lovely daughter...
don't be surprised if next post is dedicated to the handsome son..

love this one! she was socializing with a neighbor girl...she is such a social butterfly!

a flower we found on one of our mother/daughter walks together that was simply lovely.

(taken on phone)
love this shot...

weekend recap from recent past...

hello! wow, it seems like forever since i've posted...i'm now playing catch-up!

so...on to a great weekend recap..this is from a couple weekends ago.

this particular weekend was so fun...

let's see... first we started the weekend off right by making some homemade pizza at home, all four of us. it was an incredible time (sorry no pictures, as we were knee high in dough making, topping chopping, and salad preparing..no hands left for camera use). but, truly...it may not seem that big of a deal to anyone else, but to me it was so wonderful. all of us working together towards a particular (of eating a yummy dinner) and spending quality time together. it was love.

the next morning we got a call from a friend that him and his oldest child would be driving through so, a picnic on the beach was was in order, indeed....yay!

later that morning we watched an incredible live streamed sermon from our home church via the internet (i do love our church family and am so thankful that we can still gain the blessings from the sermons even while we are away for awhile at an extended time on the beach).

after the sermon we got the news that the gary and debi (the sweet grandparents) were going to be in town late saturday evening for a last minute trip here to see us. Another yay!!

so...onto the picnic at the beach to see friends...

taking it all in.

a shot of the adorable freckles..i had about these many at his age, too.

i do not believe matching shirts were planned..good thing rocky flipped his collar up and has a wife who isn't very good at ironing..otherwise you'd think this was planned, huh? ;-)

threatening to throw her in? the water is cold, btw!

don't worry...he caught her, but check out her grip...she wasn't going anywhere. ;-)

her first moments at the beach...ever!

loving it!

i do believe she will want to return to this place called 'beach'.

then the (surprise for the kids) arrival of grandma and grandpa...

surprise!! they were thrilled!

happiness!

sunday morning we went to the orange beach art festival...lots of fun was had. i, for one, always get so overwhelmed with inspiration at art festivals...love them!! one of these days...my inspiration will flourish into something, i just know it.

We got to see all sorts of interested things..the kids made pottery, painted, learned how beads are made. it all was very interested and tons of fun!

watching the kids do some graffiti. ;-)

apparently, we weren't the only ones who thought they are pretty rad artists. ;-)

slightly frustrated that even the origami help were having issues helping him make his advanced origami choice.

watching a bead being made (this is her reflection through the glass)

watching an awesome pot being made..

doing some gyotaku with grandma

a cute vw bug

a pink bumper! this may only be funny to rocky and i!

after the grandparents left we headed home...hungry and a bit tired.

rocky got the call from a friend who was going to go sailing and had invited rocky to go with..rocky took river and made it a guy outing.

rocky and little man had a blast and even saw a dolphin (unfortunately, no pictures were taken). hopefully, the ladies will be able to join them sometime on the open sea for an afternoon sail...and you know, if i am there...tons of pictures will be taken (probably more than one person cares to see).

so...little lady and i took the time to do some proper girl primping and pampering..warm olive oil hair masks, anyone? No pictures of this one either, as my hands were covered in olive oil. ;-)

lovely weekend. lovely company. simply love.

going for it..

taken in stride..

learning the ropes..

he totally lands this one...with him standing. YAY!

love.

more love.

this is something I will be doing weekly. most likely on mondays..
just a simple way for me to jot down the plan's for the week while, at the same time, finding beauty in the everyday moments...

i am hearing.... the sound of me quietly typing these words
