In an attempt to keep track of all the adorable things the kids say..I have created this page. It has been a goal of mine to do this consistently. So, here it goes...

1/26/11

I walked into the kitchen and saw Lily cleaning the floor with a paper towel (she must have spilled some water on the floor, which manifested itself into a full on cleaning session)... it made me think of Cinderella for some crazy reason.

Mommy- "Lily, do you know the story of Cinderella?"
Lily- "Yes, it is the story of a lady...with really big hair. She picked people up with her really big hair."

So she has her fairy tales slightly mixed up...I think the "big hair lady" she is referring to is supposed to be Repunzal.  Too cute!!

Leafy to me, mom:
"Mom, you smell so good. You smell like a rose."
Okay..this was almost too much. ;-)

Leafy to Rocky:
"Are some birds scared of heights?"

2/25/11

leafy to mom:
while on a walk and using his binoculars..he looked through them and said to me, "mom, you are big in size" meaning...i looked bigger through his binoculars. I heard, "mom, you have big thighs"..i asked for clarification. i mean..i knew i had missed quite a few workouts due to bouts of intense anemia, but surely not that he would notice it on my thighs, i thought. ;-)

3/10/11
lily decided tonight to give everyone a new nickname..and that it would be "shark-a-noodle"..so, tonight  all are "shark-a-noodle"...hmmm..I wonder how long that will last. ;-)

5/5/11
while watching one of my favorite songs from 'angus and julia stone' leafy curiously asked me, "mom, can only adults be in bands?"  ;-)

Date Unknown:
not sure when leafy said this..i'm a guessing it was maybe last year sometime.
anywho...we have trees in the front of our house in tn and apparently squirrels like to explore them. leafy has taken notice of them in the past. one day as we were leaving to go somewhere, leafy said, "look mom, a herd of squirrels!!". i still laugh about that till this day and it makes me smile. a precious memory!!
i was pretty sure at that time that squirrels do not travel in herds, but you know..i had to google it to be sure and consult with rocky to be absolutely sure. you never know. ;-)
they, in fact, DO NOT, travel in herds btw. ;-)

5/19/11
leafy: "mommy, i am glad i have a mommy who likes to take pictures all the time."
{i am so glad he approves) ;-)

6-22-11
while i was doing push-ups this evening in the living room, lily notices how red my face was getting and said, "mommy, i think we forgot to put sunscreen on today because you are burnt."
hehehe. ;-)

7-12-11
while looking through their library books this afternoon, river said, "mom, when i grow up i want to be a paleontologist."
lily then chimed in and said, "when i grow up i want to be a fat monkey."

7-25-11
a couple of the neighbor boys (christian and jonah), who live in our apartment complex (river and lily's ages) came over to play.  While they were on the back porch looking at river and lily's little lizards, i heard river ask them, "now, didn't i show you how to properly hold them?" it was so cute of a question. river sounded just like rocky! i smiled. ;-)

8-17-11
lily looked at me while we were discussing what she wanted to wear on that day. she looked up at me and asked, "mommy, when do i get to wear nibble covers, too?" hmmm....yes, she refers to nipples as 'nibbles'. i thought this was just too cute of a question from a way too cute of a little girl.
hopefully she won't need covers for her nibbles for many more years to come. ;-)

8-18-11
while i was getting dinner ready this evening, river asked me some questions...
"mom, how old were you when you moved out of your house..stopped living with your parents?"
i proceeded to answer with, "about 21."
he then asked, "how many years after you moved away from your dad, did you get married?"
this kid amazes me with his questions.
well, i then asked him why he wanted to know and he said, "i just do because i am curious. curious river.i like to know things."
i love you, river!!!!

11-13-11
at about midnight i heard lily roll out of bed onto her floor (this happens often..i did this as a kid, too) she started to whimper so i headed to her room to see if i could help her back to her bed. she put up her hand and showed me the universal sign for 'stop' when i asked her if she wanted to go back to bed. she said, "no". i then asked if she wanted to go to mommy and daddy's bed a awhile (i know...i shouldn't ask, but she is such a great cuddler.) she then said, "no." after running out of options and noticing that she still appeared to be partially asleep, i brought her back to her bed. she whimpered. i said don't you want to go back to bed as i lay her in bed, she said, "no, i want to fly."
(she is so her daddy's girl). ;-)
